Sun Life Financial is the first major corporation to announce that they’ll be using Research In Motion’s new Playbook in the field. Sun Life Financial hopes to bring the PlayBook in for employees to use during group retirement sign-up events. Normally employees would attend enrollment sessions by Sun Life, and use forms and instructions. The PlayBook will allow the attendees of these events to fill out all of the forms on the spot and be done with it. Sun Life noted that in the United States, where wireless enrolment has already been introduced, sign-up rates have increased to 90 per cent compared to the typical 50-per-cent rate using traditional methods.

“Our vision is to make the enrolment process as simple and easy as possible,” says Tom Reid, senior vice president of group retirement services at Sun Life Financial. “Employees who attend enrolment sessions will each have access to a BlackBerry PlayBook. Our education specialists will take them through the plan design, explain the benefits and walk them through the enrolment process. They will be able to use the PlayBook to instantly input all enrolment data.”
