A while back when everyone was still sorting out the 3rd party browser offerings, there were quite a few different offerings. One of them that fell off the map after a while due to lack of popularity and the developers not putting stock in BlackBerry.
Well then a funny thing happens… OS6 comes around with that fancy web kit browser and they go and reconsider.
We do expect to bring Skyfire 2.o to additional platforms, and we have begun discussions with some carriers and OEMs to decide which will be our next OS. Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 and Nokia’s MeeGo platform are both shaping up as platforms with a lot of potential and the recent launch of the new BlackBerry OS6 with a WebKit browser core makes for interesting potential for a future release of Skyfire 2.0. We value feedback from our users, so please let us know what platform you would like to see Skyfire on next and just as importantly let your wireless carrier know that you want Skyfire.
Now if it actually mattered what we thought I might just call up my wonderful service provider and demand that we get the opportunity to give this new Skyfire a spin. Now if QNX OS takes hold, what would the point of this be? Either way they might want to consider a few upgrades to their infrastructure before they let the Blackberry users flood their network.
