Engadgetmanaged to speak with a RIM rep on the floor at CES 2011 and confirmed the BlackBerry PlayBook was indeed running TI’s OMAP 4430 1Ghz dual core processor. Ronen Halevy over at Berry Reviewhas a great point “The thing I did notice is that TI already has a successor to the 4430 in the 4440 which can go as high as 1.5Ghz in both of its cores and doubles the 1080p, web page, and graphics performance over the 4430″. Why didn’t RIM go with the 4440 processor? Was it because the 4440 sucked the battery dry too fast or was it just cheaper to use the 4430 because the 4440 is the newest processor out?
