Here is a cool video showing a Rogers branded BlackBerry Bold 9900 getting unlocked for use on any GSM carrier. I have dealt with Cellfservices in the past unlocking an old BlackBerry 8320 and I must say it was a pleasant experience. Also they were the first to post the follow unlocking video AT&T Branded BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 Gets Unlocked!
Here is what cellfservices had to say about the unlocking:
| BlackBerry Bold 9900 Unboxing and Unlocking on Video
What’s inside? We had the chance to grab a BlackBerry Bold 9900 from Rogers Wireless before the official release date on August 15 – according to a Rogers representative. We shot a video to show you what to expect when you open the box. With a video always comes a more detailed post on our blog echoing what the video has to say. |
| How do I unlock the Bold 9900?
The unlocking instructions have changed slightly for OS 7.0, yet it has stayed the same. What we’re trying to say is that there is no longer a ‘long’ method to unlock the phone. For those that are used to going through the menus to SIM card – typing in MEPD then MEP alt 2, that method does not seem to exist on the newer BlackBerries anymore. We tried that on the Torch 9810 as well as on the Bold 9900 and it does not work. You will now need an unaccepted SIM card in order to unlock BlackBerry if you decide to upgrade.
