BBM Hackathon 2011 winner was Smarter Apps, there was no mention as to what thier application was but they won nonetheless. Well it seems that application that Smarter Apps has come up with is called Who’s Around, and it a great concept! It uses BBM Social and will allow BBM users to share thier locations to other users and then create at type of social network from there. Much like Wikitude does using Augmented Reality in a few videos that we have seen thus far on the Blackberry Bold 9900 and soon to be on more Blackberry OS 7 devices.
Once you have downloaded the app and with BBM Social included in BBM 6, you will be able to set your name, avatar and preferences…sound familar? Simple and intuitive just like BBM, from there you would be able to share your interest whatever they may be, whether it’s sports, business, investment, dating, drinks, movies etc and then choose how you want to share that between your Blackberry Messenger contacts. And then will allow some intergration between BBM and twitter using hashtags and other links to get really social!
As I have said before, but this time those ”future-ready” devices RIM youre on to something!
