High School Students Win Prizes In App Building Contest

TechU.me held a App Jam contest at the Ottawa Game Conference, where high school students created apps for a chance at prizes. Some tech companies were sponsoring the prizes which was $1000 scholarships.

A couple winners of note were Krista McCormick and Melanie Lapointe. They created a curriculum quiz game app which netted them a $1000 from QNX’s Dan Dodge. They also got Playbooks from Patrick Mollins, Developer Evangelist at RIM. Not too shabby girls. This is a great way to get younger people involved in technology and development as well as their fresh ideas.
