While the BlackBerry Z10 is only officially available in the UK at the moment, that fact hasn’t seemed to have affected sales. Jefferies & Co, has conducted some channel checks and they say that pre-orders in the United Arab Emirates and Canada have so far been “solid”.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek is reporting that the white Z10 is seeing widespread sellout, as we have seen with the pre-orders on Bell in Canada. Misek is also saying that while the black version is easier to come by, but stock is still limited.
“We believe Carphone Warehouse is seeing widespread sell-outs, while O2, Vodafone, Orange and EE are seeing robust demand,” Misek explained. “We estimate sell-in to be at least several hundred thousand units.”
Hopefully we will see uptake, like we have seen in the UK, in the US once the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 start to make their way to the major carriers.
“To put [these early Z10 numbers] in perspective, the iPhone had first weekend sales of 5 million plus in the U.S.,” Misek said. “The U.S. is five times larger so continued strong sales could bode very well for Blackberry.”
It is great to see analysts reporting good results for BlackBerry, since they are usually griping about the brand in some way. what do you all think about the positive results so far? Do you think BlackBerry 10 has a fighting chance in the US? Let us know what you think in the comments.
