BlackBerry has made it is easy for developers to jump on board and to build their applications for BlackBerry 1o, initially at launch BlackBerry touted 70,000 apps in BlackBerry World. They have now surpassed that feat with more than 100,000 applications, what is even more astonishing it that only 20% of those applications are Android ports.
“We give them a very nice on-ramp to get onto the platform,” Martyn Mallick, BlackBerry’s vice president for global alliances and business development, told AllThingsD. “Our users deserve to have great content. If that is the fastest way we can get some of that content, that’s great.”
BlackBerry sales have taken off as well around the Globe and is expected to continue with launch of the BlackBerry Z10 on Verizon Wireless, the states number one carrier. Who proclaimed to have purchased 1 million BlackBerry Z10 devices. Martyn Mallick is optimistic for the BlackBerry 10 launch.
“Take a look over the next couple of weeks,” he said. “I expect we will see a stronger response.”
