Unity Empowers Games Industry With Free Mobile Publishing Tools

BlackBerry World Sees 20% Of Purchases Being Made On Music, Says BlackBerry Exec

BlackBerry has never been big on the music. They tried BBM Music and that was a bust. And when you think of BlackBerry you aren’t thinking about listening to music on it. BlackBerry 10 has obviously changed that way of thinking because music is accounting for 20% of purchases made at BlackBerry World.

This information was found out by Trusted Reviews, who spoke to Charlie Miller during BlackBerry Live. Miller, who is BlackBerry’s Director of Alliances, said “20 per cent of overall purchases on BlackBerry World is music” also saying “That’s just music, not movie and TV and that’s a lot higher than some.” “I can’t comment on the other guys, but what I can say is that proportionally that is a very high number.”

Good job BlackBerry, another point in your favor. The more variety and choices that are available to users at BlackBerry World, the more of a draw it will be. Music was definitely lacking before, I know it annoyed me. And I am sure it turned some people away from BlackBerries too.

For any of you that are fans of side scrolling games, then 2-Bit Heroes is the BlackBerry 10 game for you. In this game you will guide the Heroes from side to side collecting coins as you avoid obstacles all the way. At $0.99 this game is a steal, but you will want to grab it soon as it is currently on sale and will be jumping back up to $1.99 soon.

Currently the game is only available for the Z10, but hopefully they will add Q10 support sometime soon.

Automattic, Inc has updated their BlackBerry 10 app. The app now stands at v1.0.69.1. The update includes Fix for missing featured image setting. WP is used by a lot of people and it is important that any errors get fixed quickly because it could affect someone’s blog.

Skype now available for BlackBerry Z10 owners with 10.1 update

Today during the BlackBerry Live Keynote, CEO Thorsten Heins made it official that Skype is now available for BlackBerry Z10 owners. This is of course in conjunction with the start of the roll-out of the BlackBerry 10.1 update for the Z10. Previously some Z10 owners that had loaded one of the leaked builds of 10.1 were able to download Skype, but with the official update starting to happen around the world, Skype will not be there for everyone.

“We are excited that a preview version of Skype on the BlackBerry Z10 is now available for download for users in the first markets the BlackBerry 10 devices are available. As soon as the 10.1 operating system update for the Z10 rolls out in Canada, Skype will also be available to BlackBerry 10 users.”

So if you have a Z10 make sure you are keeping an eye out for that update, and in turn check out BlackBerry World for that Skype download once you have updated.

Texas Hold’em King Gets An Update With A Major New Feature

Magmic has updated their Texas Hold’em King game app to v1.1. And with this update comes private tables. Using the NFC or BBM on your phone you can add people to your own private table. This new feature is for VIP players only.

How the tables work:

You can invite up to 5 friends to your table
Tables will become public after 10 minutes so you and your friends can play against the rest of the world!
VIPs only! In order to reserve a private table you must be a highroller. Only casino members with 100k chips or more can get their own table!

The update is available at BlackBerry World, and the game is free to download.
