For those of you addicted to the channels of BBM you can get on Twitter and look at the tweets of @ChannelPin to get your fix. ChannelPin’s goal is to promote BBM channels and increase the exposure of your channel to the twitter-sphere. Since the announcement of the BBM channels at BlackBerry Live last week, they have exploded and you are able to get personal channels or interest specific channels to fit your needs.

Got a Telsa Model S? Control it With a BlackBerry Z10

In car integration is something that all smartphone users have been looking for since the first smartphone was released. There have been alarm systems with mobile phone integration and Onstar integration as well. Tesla has released an application that allows users to control their Model S from their Z10 or Q10.

Tesla had offered this app for the iOS and android platform but never developed the application for BlackBerry. Marcus Adolfsson moved the code over to the BlackBerry platform. The application is said to be as good as if not better than the iOS and Android counterparts.

Some of the features available in the App are:

Battery Level and Range remaining (ideal, rated, estimated)
Vehicle Status (Opened Doors etc)
Lock and Unlock Doors Sunroof (Close, Vent, Open)
Climate Control (Set temp, On/Off)
Honk Horn, Flash Light
Charging Status
Charge time remaining
Charging data (volt, amps)
Car Location on Map
Active Frame that shows Battery Level when app is minimized

With all of the features that are available in the app you would think that you would have to pay for this application but the app is free thru App World.

Word Soup for BlackBerry 10 updated – Adds FREE version

Word Soup for BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry PlayBook has been updated to version 1.4. This update brings a FREE version of Word Soup as well. Word Soup is a word-creation game with a tactical twist. Create words within the grid of scrambled letters. Each word created is removed from the grid and the letters above fall into the gaps. By tilting your device, you can slide the tiles left or right, creating new word combinations.

With careful play, letters can be strategically brought into play and used to create longer words. You score bonus points if you successfully clear the grid of all letters. The starting grid is randomly generated, so no two games should ever be the same.

Local highscore tables track Longest Words, Best Words, Highest Scores and more. Word Soup Free also features Scoreloop Leaderboards for a global challenge.

Former Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis Said iOS & Android Users Will Embrace BBM

BlackBerry founder and former Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said that he’s confident that users of iPhones and other devices will embrace the company’s BlackBerry Messenger platform, which will be offered on rival phones later this year.

“BBM is by far the most compelling wireless experience and wireless social-networking environment,” Lazaridis, who stepped down as co-chief executive officer in early 2012, said yesterday at the Bloomberg Canada Economic Summit in Toronto.

The decision by current CEO Thorsten Heins to turn the messaging service into a stand-alone application shows that the new BlackBerry 10 platform is thriving and can lure users without the exclusivity of BBM, Lazaridis said.

“He’s speaking to the confidence he has in the platform,” Lazaridis said. “Not only is BlackBerry back in a big way with BB10, he’s also showing he can expand that vision to other platforms.”

Porsche Design announces the BlackBerry P’9981 in Gold – Limited Edition

With BlackBerry Live last week and all of the talk surrounding BlackBerry 10 we did not see this one coming. Porsche Design has announced a new P’9981 device in 24-carat gold. The new Porsche Design P’9981 in gold will be limited to a production run of only 25 devices worldwide and will only be in certain Porsche Design stores sometime in July.

The specs of the P’9981 are the same to the original with the exception that it is made with a stainless steel case with a gold-colored titanium coating and finished with a 24-carat gold layer. The limited edition number (1-25) is on the camera cover on the backside of the smartphone which is milled from a solid block of 24-carat gold!

BlackBerry Q10 in Black & White Appears in Verizon Inventory System

We all know by now that the BlackBerry Q10 is set to hit the US sometime next month, well the BlackBerry Q10has made an appearance in Verizon Wireless inventory system. The best thing is the Q10 will be available in both black and white. When a device shows in a carriers internal inventory system the launch is typically two weeks away. So if you have been holding out on the BlackBerry Q10 your wait is almost over!
