Leaked: OS 10.1.0.1880 for the BlackBerry Z10 – STL100-2 and STL100-3

You can always tel when Friday rolls around! Over the last few weeks OS’s for the BlackBerry Z10 have been leaking out and today is no different. We now hav OS 10.1.0.1880 for the BlackBerry Z10 model STL100-2 and STL100-3. At this time there is now word on what has changed so if you see anything different feel free to let us know in the comments.

Download OS 10.1.0.1880 for the BlackBerry Z10 STL100-2 and STL100-3

Installation Instructions if needed:

Turn off your BlackBerry Z10.

Run the file that you just extracted.

Connect your Z10 to your usb cable and quickly turn it on.

The autloader should connect to your Z10 and start the process.

Sit back, have a coffee or a tea and wait until the process is finished.

When the autoloader has written 100%, the program will terminate and the window will close.

Disconnect your BlackBerry Z10 and wait for it to reboot.

Please note that we do not accept any responsibility for anything this does to your device. Please do not attempt to load this unless you are comfortable with what you are doing. You will need a Windows machine to use the loader, but if you do load it drop us a comment letting us know how it runs.

Register now to find out when BBM hits iOS and Android

During the keynote at BlackBerry Live this week BlackBerry announced that they were bringing BBM to iOS and Android. This announcement rocked the world as BlackBerry Messenger or BBM as it is commonly called has only been on BlackBerry. Some of the people we spoke with at Live had mixed reactions to the announcement. All in all BlackBerry has made the decision to go cross-platform. BlackBerry OS 10.1 now available in Australia

During the keynote at BlackBerry Live this week Thorsten Heins let us all know that BlackBerry OS 10.1 would start rolling out this week for everyone except the US which is set to start rolling out at the end of the month. BlackBerry OS 10.1 has landed in Australia. Let us know what you think about the update in the comments.
The new BlackBerry® 10.1 Operating System (OS) is now available for download by BlackBerry Z10 smartphone customers in Australia. The BlackBerry 10 update includes new features for the BlackBerry Hub alongside updates to notifications, cursor control and camera.

How to download the operating system update
To update your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone to BlackBerry 10.1, look for the alert in the notifications section of the BlackBerry Hub. You can also check for software updates through the settings menu by visiting the software updates section. The download will happen in the background, so your information remains safe. However, as always, we recommend you have a current backup of your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone readily available. New BlackBerry 10.1 OS features include:

BlackBerry Hub

The BlackBerry Hub lets you access all your messages and notifications in one place. With BlackBerry 10.1, the BlackBerry Hub supports PIN to PIN messages for direct communication between BlackBerry smartphones. Plus, improved attachment support in the BlackBerry Hub makes it easier to view emails which have been sent as attachments to other messages.

Notifications

Your BlackBerry 10 smartphone keeps you connected to the people who matter to you with BBM, text messages, personal and work email, social networks and more. With BlackBerry 10.1, you can personalise the notifications for your accounts and contacts so you always know what is happening around you. Customise ringtones, vibration and the LED light by contact or by account for more personalised notifications.

Fine Cursor Control

BlackBerry 10.1 makes it easier and more accurate to pinpoint exactly where you want to type. Tap once to bring up the cursor. Grab the blue circle and drag it around to place it exactly where you need it. Tap either side of the circle to move left or right by just one character. It’s easy to move around with speed and precision.

Camera

BlackBerry 10 lets you create the perfect shot by moving parts of your picture backwards and forwards in time with Time Shift mode. BlackBerry 10.1 adds an HDR shooting mode for beautiful images in tricky lighting conditions. A standard image takes a picture at one exposure level. Where you have high contrast between light and dark areas of the photo, fine details can be lost. High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode takes multiple pictures at different exposure levels and layers them automatically to produce a single photo that combines the best of the dark and light areas.
Lots more to discover: You’ll find lots of new improvements across the BlackBerry 10 OS like landscape support for the calendar, easier international dialing, improved red eye reduction in the picture editor and much more.
