Nerdberry wanted to take a few minutes today and wish a happy Canada Day to all of our Canadian friends that are oot and oboot (out and about) celebrating today. Especially two of our editors B-ren and Nerdberry_Kim. Now everyone can return to the celebration and have a Molson for me.
This review has taken us a little time to put together, but we wanted to ensure that we took a long look at the device before judging it and that at least a few of us had some time with the device. We are of course speaking about the highly anticipated BlackBerry Q10, some may […]

Coming days after the CRTC new rules, this one actually only affects Rogers subscribers who got a subsidized phone prior to Jan 22, 2012. A lot of people have probably updated after that or the upgrade fee is pretty low if you haven’t upgraded since before that date. Rogers new upgrade fee has increased. So […]
If you are a Rogers customer and picked up a Blackberry Q10, you may have received the model that takes advantage of the 2600Mhz radio frequency. This of course puts you on the LTE Max network that Rogers has begun to roll out, with theoretical speeds of up to 150Mbps (you will never see those numbers in reality). Rogers […]
The CRTC has gone and made some major changes to how cell phones and contracts will be handled in Canada. One of the major points that I like about the new rules, is that you can terminate your contract after two years with no cancellation fees. You would only owe what is left on the […]
Larger carriers are always looking for ways to improve their footprint for their customers and one way to do so is to partner with the local carriers for roaming agreements in areas that they are not very strong. Rogers just did the exact thing by partnering with Videotron, they have signed a 20 year deal […]
Rogers, Bell and TELUS are all rolling out OS 10.1.0.1720 for the BlackBerry Q10. This OS update is coming in at 127MB in size. This update is showing as the same version number already installed, but you should update anyway as it may help fix any issues you may be having at this time. There […]

It was only a matter of time before more Canadian carriers announced the pre-orders for the Q10. Along with Telus Rogers and Bell Canada, Sasktel and Fido are gearing up for the launch of the Q10. On Fido’s website the Q10 is shown as “Available Soon”. You can pre-order from Fido for $350 on a […]
BlackBerry had previously said that the Q10 would be releasing in April, and it looks like it will come right down to the wire in Canada. In this leaked screenshot passed along to Mobilesyrup, it seems that Rogers will be releasing the BlackBerry Q10 on April 30th.
Back in November, Rogers and CIBC joined together to launch Suretap, the mobile payment system. They claim to be Canada’s first mobile payment system. Currently, both the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Z10 are capable of using this technology with more in the future.
If you were still on the fence about getting the Z10 because you thought the contract price was still too high, this may change your mind. The year contract price has been lowered to $99.99 at Rogers, Bell and Virgin.

Golden Horseshoe, including Oakville, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Grimsby, Hamilton and the Greater Hamilton area, Burlington, Niagara Falls, Thorold, Pelham, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Wainfleet, Welland, Fort […]
One of the main problems I have with Canadian carriers is that they offer no discounts on monthly plans if you bring your own device. Sure you avoid signing a 3 year contract, but your monthly bill is the same as those people who signed up with a 100% subsidized device. Luckily Rogers is getting […]
Rogers has announced two new programs today that are sure to make customers happy. The first one relates to their policy regarding unlocking of devices. Previously you had to be finished your contract to get your phone unlocked, or have bought it outright and had an account in good standing for 90 days.
With reports of strong sales of the Z10 from BlackBerry, it isn’t surprising that Rogers is saying that they are selling lots of them too. This time around it isn’t just that they sold a lot, they’ve sold more of the Z10’s than any other BlackBerry before. So even in their heyday the sales weren’t […]
