With BlackBerry Live set to kick off on Tuesday, we will be flying into Orlando tomorrow to get all set up to bring you the most update BlackBerry coverage. Virgin Mobile France Rolls Out OS 10.1 for the Z10

Our friends over at BlackBerry-FR, just let us know that Virgin Mobile is pushing out OS 10.1 for the BlackBerry Z10. We expect that the official roll out of Blackberry OS 10.1 for North America will come sometime next week during BlackBerry Live. Virgin Mobile pre-registration sign-up now live for the BlackBerry Q10

Virgin Mobile Canada has now joined in on the pre-registration BlackBerry Q10 fun. Virgin has set up the registration page with an image of the BlackBerry Q10 and of course it says “Coming Soon”. At this time there is no official date or pricing available as this is just a pre-registration webpage.

Rogers, Bell and Virgin Lower The 3 Year Contract Price Of BlackBerry Z10 To $99.99

If you were still on the fence about getting the Z10 because you thought the contract price was still too high, this may change your mind. The year contract price has been lowered to $99.99 at Rogers, Bell and Virgin.

I still think 3 years is a bit long to have a contract now. But the price drop helps out a little. The other carriers will probably also lower their price in response to this price drop.

Virgin and Bell users reporting BlackBerry 10 software update 10.0.10.85 is now available for download

Canadian BlackBerry users on Virgin and Bell will be happy to know that the software update 10.0.10.85 is now starting to show up for download. BlackBerry users on Rogers, Fido, Koodo and TELUS have already seen this update that provides quite a few enhancements to the BlackBerry Z10. The most important part of this software update is in the battery life.

When the software update dropped for the other carrier BlackBerry put together a list of the top 5 new features, so lets take another look at them.

1. 3rd Party App Performance
We’ve improved performance for 3rd party applications, so developers can build apps that run fast and smooth for you. With this update, you might want to keep an eye out for some fresh new app launches in March, like WhatsApp.

2. Phone, Calendar, and Contacts
Among the top improvements and features are fixes for Gmail calendars on BlackBerry 10. You’ll also find improvements in the BlackBerry Hub for logging calls log and how conversations are handled. We’ve also made general improvements to importing contacts from online sources.

3. Camera
We’ve optimized the camera for better photos in low-light situations. You’ll love the difference this makes for photos where you don’t use a flash – like the Time Shift Camera feature.

4. Browser and Media
With more and more of you using the gorgeous screen on the BlackBerry Z10 to consume online videos and media, we’ve made a number of improvements to the software in the way the browser handles video playback to provide a fantastic experience.

5. Battery Life
The software team has included a number of battery life optimizations with over 60 battery saving improvements since launch to keep you moving. These combined improvements are designed so that you see improvements in battery life and heavy users especially should see a longer average usage per charge cycle.

So if you are on Bell or Virgin and have a Z10, you will have to delve into the system settings to see if the update has hit your device yet or not.

Virgin Mobile Canada Looking For People To Join Their BlackBerry 10 Testing Team

It’s that time again, Virgin Mobile Canada is “building an army of super-savvy Member phone lovers”. If you qualify then you will “get your hands on the re-invented BlackBerry first.” Virgin Mobile has done this many times before, getting specially picked people to test out the latest hottest phone.

“If you can prove that you’re creative and cool enough, we’ll give you a free upgrade to one of our hottest new smartphones.” Head over to their site and apply to be part of the Tester Team. Even if Virgin doesn’t think you are cool enough, your Mom will.

By signing up you will be entered in for a chance to win one of four BlackBerry 10 smartphones! This sign up page does not guarantee you a pre-ordered device but you will be receiving emails with updates on information for news and release dates and so on.

Here we are in December already… Where did the time go??? We here at NerdBerry want to celebrate the holidays in a HUGE way! Starting today and ending on December 23 we are going to be running a Holiday Photo Contest from RIM and NerdBerry!!! We have TWO BlackBerry prize packs up for grabs. The two prize packs consist of one T-Mobile Branded BlackBerry Bold 9900 and one 32GB BlackBerry PlayBook!! We have put a lot of thought in to this contest and we have come up with the Holiday Photo Contest!

How do you enter? Of course you MUST do the regular stuff such as – “Like” our Facebook page, Follow us on Twiter, Subscribe to our YouTube Channel and leave a comment letting us know the top three have been completed…

Because this is such a huge contest we are going to throw in one more thing, don’t fret it is not hard. All you have to do is take a picture of your current smartphone next to your favorite holiday item such as your Christmas tree, favorite food, favorite ornament, favorite holiday movie, etc..
