BlackBerry 7 Gets Some Love, Update And Receive Certain Premium Apps Free

BlackBerry is encouraging BlackBerry 7 users to update their devices to 7.1. If you do so, there may be a free app in it for you. Looking at the list, North America is not included but there are a bunch of other countries who can benefit from this. Check out the list below to see if your phone can be updated.

Holiday Photo Contest from RIM and NerdBerry!! Enter for a Chance to Win One of Two BlackBerry Prize Packs!!!

Here we are in December already… Where did the time go??? We here at NerdBerry want to celebrate the holidays in a HUGE way! Starting today and ending on December 23 we are going to be running a Holiday Photo Contest from RIM and NerdBerry!!! We have TWO BlackBerry prize packs up for grabs. The two prize packs consist of one T-Mobile Branded BlackBerry Bold 9900 and one 32GB BlackBerry PlayBook!! We have put a lot of thought in to this contest and we have come up with the Holiday Photo Contest!

How do you enter? Of course you MUST do the regular stuff such as – “Like” our Facebook page, Follow us on Twiter, Subscribe to our YouTube Channel and leave a comment letting us know the top three have been completed…

Because this is such a huge contest we are going to throw in one more thing, don’t fret it is not hard. All you have to do is take a picture of your current smartphone next to your favorite holiday item such as your Christmas tree, favorite food, favorite ornament, favorite holiday movie, etc.. Send it in to us with a caption explaining why you chose that particular holiday item. Remember be creative, get your family involved after all it is the holidays and most of all have fun doing it!

Rogers launches the “Suretap” Mobile Payment System for BlackBerry

Today, Rogers has released “Suretap” Mobile Payment System for BlackBerry! Rogers customers that have a BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Curve 9380 as well as a CIBC credit card will be happy to know that you can now pay via NFC at select retailers in Canada. What is suretap? Rogers™ suretap™ is a new service that turns your wireless smartphone into a mobile wallet. Instead of fumbling for cash, quickly pay for small purchases at the coffee shop or grocery store via your compatible Rogers device. Rogers suretap mobile payment purchases over $50 generally require a signature (depends on the retailer). It’s already accepted at tens of thousands of merchants; just look for the contactless logo. Be one of the first in Canada to use this exciting service!

How Does it Work?

Leveraging Near Field Communication (NFC) Technology, Rogers suretap service allows you to securely download your CIBC credit card details to your NFC SIM card for use in mobile payments. To make a purchase, just tap your device at a contactless point of sale terminal and you’re good to go!

NFC Technology

A short range wireless technology that enables devices to securely communicate at close distances (typically less than 10 cm).

Rogers customers who have the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Curve 9380, plus who have a CIBC credit card, can now visit select retailers and pay via their device. Rogers and CIBC teamed up today to launch the “suretap” mobile payment app.

Where Can I Use It?

Use Rogers suretap at tens of thousands of locations across Canada.

Only stores or merchants who have a contactless point of sale (POS) terminal can support Rogers suretap mobile payments. Any terminal that accepts VISA payWave® or MasterCard PayPass™ will also support suretap™ transactions. If the merchant’s POS terminal doesn’t support NFC transactions, then another method of payment will be required to complete the transaction. Rogers suretap mobile payment purchases over $50 generally require a signature (depends on the retailer).

Isis Mobile-Payment System, To Launch Next Month

The NFC payment system is going to launch in September. This is a joint collaboration with Isis Mobile Payment System, Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T. Starting off small, only two cities are for the September launch, Salt Lake City and Austin, Texas.
