Soccer Ticker emerges as #1 football app in BlackBerry 10 World

Jakarta, 9 April 2013 – Soccer Ticker, winner of BlackBerry JamHack Asia 2012 and Developers’ Choice, is currently the #1 football app in BlackBerry 10 World. This achievement includes APAC, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

That leading position has been maintained since the global launch of BlackBerry 10 on January 30th in New York, USA.

Soccer Ticker is the latest brainchild of PT Inspira Solusi Indonesia, a local startup in Indonesia, with focus on mobile technology and culture.

“The app is all about capturing the excitement of soccer. It allows you to get live feed of the play-by-play, updates to the betting odds, match statistic, alerts, latest news, and many others. Users can also enjoy real time conversation with their peers via the integrated BBM chat platform. All of these elements are presented in real time and within the same environment,” said Vincent Putera, Lead Creative at Inspira.

Soccer Ticker is currently seeing downloads coming from more than 60 countries, but biggest influx of users are coming from UK, Canada, Saudi
Arabia, and last but not least, Indonesia.

“Many of these countries are the first markets to get access to the BlackBerry Z10 device, and naturally we’re seeing spikes of activities coming from there. That’s a good news to us, and now we want to make sure we’re off to a great start here in Indonesia,” said Henry Sumargo,
Lead Developer of Soccer Ticker.

“Indonesia is a country with lots of soccer fans and well known for its appetite for mobile consumption. We’re excited to explore this opportunity,
and look forward to build long term relationship with our solid user base here.”

Soccer Ticker also won the Best Local App 2013 given out by GSM Media Group (Indonesia) as part of the Selular Awards, and currently being included as one of the recommended apps by one of the major telcos in Indonesia (Indosat).

Soccer Ticker will soon make its way to Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS).

Transparent BlackBerry Z10 Caught on Camera!!!!

As you can see in the image above Blackberry is working on a fully transparent BlackBerry Z10!!!! The image was uploaded on the interwebs over night. The image shows a fully functioning transparent BlackBerry Z10, being held by someone at BlackBerry. Hit the break for more info as well as more photo’s on this breaking story!

Actually the image was uploaded to BlackBerry’s FaceBook page as an April Fool’s joke. I will say that if BlackBerry where working on a transparent device I am all ears! Thanks to BBOS for catching this one!

BlackBerry Launches NFC Ad Campaign in the UK

Ever since i was able to enable the NFC feature on the BlackBerry Bold 9900, I have been hooked on the technology. The possibilities are endless with NFC, you can use it to turn on/off Bluetooth, WiFi, Mobile payments and much more. BlackBerry has launched a new campaign in the UK using NFC technology to promote the BlackBerry Z10.

BlackBerry, Proxama and Experience Worldwide have gotten together to offer a hands on marketing campaign across malls in the UK. This campaign is fully under way in the UK. Users will be able to tap NFC powered smart posters to claim prizes ranging from USB sticks and phone covers to BlackBerry themed shoulder bags.

Proxama managing director Miles Quitmann hopes that the campaign and BlackBerry’s promotion of NFC will pave the way for other mobile phone manufacturers to embrace the technology’s capabilities.

“It’s fantastic that BlackBerry is getting behind NFC as a core feature of the new generation of smart phones,” he said. “We believe that the mobile industry needs to make a concerted effort to educate consumers to the benefits of NFC and what it can do to improve people’s everyday lives.”

“Consumer engagement is a vital cog in the development of NFC and campaigns such as this one will help build the public’s awareness and understanding of it,” he added.

Funny Infographic on Smartphone Disasters

Phones 4U has sent us a really interesting and very funny infographic on smartphone disasters. After the break you will find some humorous and scary way people have destroyed their smartphones. Now I have destroyed a couple of BlackBerry’s in my time (on accident of course). The first time I cracked the display on my Bold 9900 about a week or two after I picked it up (thank god for insurance), I have accidentally thrown my old Bold 9700 in a bucket of water with video chatting with @B_Ren8 (I was able to save it but putting it in a bag of rice and it still works to this day), and last but not least while in Canada last year for vacation my wife washed one of my Bold 9900 till it died… Hi the break to check out the Funny Infographic.

Mall Goers Surprised With BlackBerry Barkada Flashmob In The Philippines

There is no doubt that BlackBerry is a big thing in the Philippines Recently a BlackBerry Barkada surprised mall goers at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium with a flashmob dedicated to their love of BlackBerry. Lucky for all of us the whole thing was caught on tape and can be enjoyed in this 5 min video. If you are wondering what a “Barkada” is, it is street slang in Filipino for a group of friends and it is a term that #TeamBlackBerry has embraced in the Philippines to show their pride.
