I have really enjoyed this addition to BBM, it allows you to make voice calls to your BBM friends over BBM using Wi-Fi. This being the only drawback to the feature is that is a Wi-Fi only system. However screenshots from the latest BlackBerry 1o OS build show that BlackBerry Messenger Voice will have the capabilities to work using your mobile network. This is very welcoming as we look forward to using the new BBM Video Chat and Voice feature on your mobile network much like how the 4G PlayBook models use. The screenshot shows that there will also be a toggle switch for you to switch if you want to allow BBM Voice Calls over Mobile Networks or Wifi, how it currently works.

Of course the BlackBerry 10 devices being unreleased it is curious to know just how carriers such as AT&T will implement the new feature as the are as we know finicky about applications using cellular data with out restrictions.BBM-calls-64b

The excitement and momentum continues to rise with the release of more and more BlackBerry 10 pictures and videos of the new BlackBerry X10 and Z10 devices as we get closer to launch! Here we have the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts for the BlackBerry Z10 as well as the BlackBerry X10 devices making the devices more official as they have not officially announced yet. This isn’t the first time that we have seen the parts of the BlackBerry 10 devices as we have seen the teardown of the BlackBerry L Series device earlier last year. Donny from the Inside BlackBerry team has just posted the above video showing off The BlackBerry 10 HTML5 browser with Matthew from the browser team. The BlackBerry 10 HTML5 browser brings some neat features, including the ability to tag and organize bookmarks.

Here we are in December already… Where did the time go??? We here at NerdBerry want to celebrate the holidays in a HUGE way! Starting today and ending on December 23 we are going to be running a Holiday Photo Contest from RIM and NerdBerry!!! We have TWO BlackBerry prize packs up for grabs. The two prize packs consist of one T-Mobile Branded BlackBerry Bold 9900 and one 32GB BlackBerry PlayBook!! We have put a lot of thought in to this contest and we have come up with the Holiday Photo Contest!

How do you enter? Of course you MUST do the regular stuff  such as – “Like” our Facebook page, Follow us on Twiter, Subscribe to our YouTube Channel and leave a comment letting us know the top three have been completed…

Because this is such a huge contest we are going to throw in one more thing, don’t fret it is not hard.  All you have to do is take a picture of your current smartphone next to your favorite holiday item such as your Christmas tree, favorite food, favorite ornament, favorite holiday movie, etc.. Send it in to us with a caption explaining why you chose that particular holiday item. Remember be creative, get your family involved after all it is the holidays and most of all have fun doing it!

Submit your photos via email to info@nerdberry.net Using the subject “Holiday Photo Contest from RIM and NerdBerry!!”.  Photo’s must be received by no later then December 23rd 2012. On December 24th the NerdBerry team will post all of the photo’s and captions received and we will announce the two winners on December 25, 2012.

If you have a Blackberry already, and you don’t have data, the document also mentions that no action is needed. October 21st is when all this starts.

This is a good way to gain more Blackberry users, as BBM is the biggest draw. The setback for a lot of mobile companies is that they make you get a data plan if you buy a smartphone on a contract.

That is if the picture to the left is to be believed. The phone was shown at Blackberry Jam Americas. There is no other info to go on other than this photo, so I suppose the sky is the limit. Definitely would be nice not to have to download the desktop and have to update it all the time.

Very formal for a code name. Usually we get something a little more fun. Since it’s not an official name, I guess it doesn’t matter.
