When we received the Vintage Sable case from Noreve it was packages exceptionally well. There are some great things that this app does but there are some areas that need some improvement as well.  The developer is very in touch with the users and welcomes comments and requests.

There are some improvements that the Developer is planning on in the near future as well as frequent updates to Fast Browser.

In our quest to find the best cases for the BlackBerry Z10 , we take a look at the Ballistic Shell Gel SG Series Case. I have been a big fan of Ballistic case I guess since BlackBerry Live formally BlackBerry World 2012. Once I saw how well the Ballistic Tough Jacket Case for the BlackBerry PlayBook preformed I knew I had to have one on each of my devices. Since then I have used Ballistic cases on my PlayBook, Bold 9900 and now my BlackBerry Z10.

Ballistic offers two color combinations for the Z10 Shell Gel case, black on black and charcoal and white. We decided to go with the charcoal and white. As you can see in the video and images above and below the charcoal and white look great on the BlackBerry Z10. Ballistics offers three layers of protection, in my opinion it should be said that it offers only two again just my opinion. They both offer three layers of protection: Layer 1 – Soft silicone equipped with Ballistic Corners, Layer 2 – Tough impact resistant polycarbonate shell, Layer 3 – Ballistic shock absorbent polymer. The reason I said it should be that it offers two layers of protection is the fact it is a two part case.

According to the retail packaging a BlackBerry Z10 rocking a Ballistic Shell Gel SG Series Case can be dropped from approximately seven feet high. Now I am not brave enough to attempt dropping my Z10 from seven feet up… If you are brave enough to try it let us know in the comments what the outcome was. If you are a pocket carrier, meaning you carry your device in your pocket this may be the case for you. I must tell you after a bit of use the corners become gummy and tend to make the device a bit harder to get out of your pocket. Other then that the case is awesome. One would expect to see some sort of discoloration on the white portion of the case, this is not the case by far. The case is still bright white and like new.

The big corners on the case offer an incredible amount of protection from drops and more. As you can see in the video and in the images the lip on the front of the case offers protection for the devices screen when laid face down. If you lay the device face down or the back side of the device down you do not have to worry about the device sliding off of the table, hints the “no-slip grip” feature.

I have paired it with my BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Torch 9810 as well as my wife’s Kindle Fire 8.9. The Bluetooth technology also offers noise reduction and echo cancellation so your music and conversations are crystal clear.

The BlackBerry Mini Stereo Speaker also offers you the ability to connect two Bluetooth enabled devices at the same exact time. So why connect two devices at the same time? Let’s start with the design. The ACTIVE combo case/holster offers a great bit of protection while minimizing the added bulk. The case offers two layers of protection from drops, dings and so on. The first layer is a silicone case that offers absorption from impact, while the second layer offers extra protection at impact points i.e. corners. Just like the Seidio SURFACE case the ACTIVE is also available in four colors black, red, blue, and purple. As you can see in the video as well as the images below the exterior case is rubberized red and looks stunning on a black device if you ask me. One of the best features built into this case has to be the metal kickstand. The kickstand from Seidio has been made of plastic for awhile now, they have upgraded from plastic to metal. The kickstand offers a great viewing angle while watching movie or playing a game in landscape mode.

Now this is a combo case, combo meaning it also comes with a holster. This holster is a bit larger then the SURFACE combo we review, but that is not really a big deal breaker. The holster offer even more protection while being used, you place the device face in so the screen is protected. As with the SURFACE case holster, the ACTIVE case holster is felt lined to protect the screen from scratches and more. Seidio was smart when they built into the holster a magnet to put the device to sleep or wake it up when you take the device in and out of the holster.

Overall this is my pick for one of the best cases available for the BlackBerry Z10. You can pick up the Seidio ACTIVE Combo on Seidio’s website for $54.95 or you can pick up just the ACTIVE case without the holster for only $34.95.

The first think I noticed when I took the case out of the packaging was that it has a premium look about.  The case is covered with a faux leather, and the magnetic clip to keep the case closed have a nice metal accent.  The case felt good in the hand, and the plastic housing that the Z10 fits into was nice and rigid, so it will offer a decent amount of protection.

The one thing to note with the wallet case is that once you put some cards into it, and add some cash as well the case does become a little thick and if you keep it in your pocket it will be a little more difficult to quickly remove it.  Now on the other side of that statement, you are eliminated having to carry both your phone and your wallet with this case.  It took me a few days to get used to not having my wallet in my back pocket, but once I became accustomed to it I really enjoyed the wallet case.

Now I use my Z10 a lot during the day.  I am constantly getting messages of all sorts and therefore I am constantly taking my phone out of my pocket and then putting it back in, and this is where the wallet case showed its only real fault.  While this is not the case for everyone, someone who is constantly on their Z10 may run into the same issue I did.  This is not to say that the case isn’t good, but rather I had to alter the way in which I used my Z10 and it meant that I didn’t always put it right back into my pocket after sending off a BBM or SMS.

The only other area where I found I had to adjust the way I used my Z10 with the wallet case on was when I decided to take a picture.  Because of the design of a wallet case, you have a fairly large flap that has to hang down when you are a taking a picture, and sometimes it would get in the way.  Again this comes down to how you use your device.  If you are constantly taking pictures with your Z10 I don’t think the wallet case is right for you.

I did discover one added bonus of this wallet case while reviewing a 3M skin, and that is that the wallet case will still fit a Z10 that has a stick in skin applied.  This means that you can keep your device personalized with a colourful skin, but that you can also still use a wallet case for when you want to travel light.  Not many cases has enough forgiveness to do this, so it is always nice when you find one.

In the end I would have to say that the wallet case for the BlackBerry Z10 from MobileFun is an excellent case, especially since it is only $15.49 plus any shipping costs.  I will add to that however that this case is not for everyone, and you need to think about whether this case will help or hinder you in your day-to-day actions.  If you do decide to give the wallet case from Mobilefun a try, let us know what you think of it in the comments.
