BlackBerry Upgraded to BUY By Jefferies & Co, after Verizon Switches to BB10

During BlackBerry Live a few announcements were made that have interest research firm Jefferies & Co, first the outstanding sellings of the BlackBerry Q10 device in markets shy of US Launch, increasing BlackBerry’s software portfolio by allowing BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) to run on Android and iOS, and BlackBerry adding the BlackBerry Q5 to its BB10 lineup, allowing for a budget friendly device to bring a BlackBerry 10 uprising in emerging markets. Finally news coming about from a report that the Verizon company has made its 10,000 employees switch from Android to Blackberry. Both Verizon Wireless and AT&T are on positive tracks for the use and adoption of BlackBerry Q10 and BES 10.1. It has also been predicted that Verizon Communications and AT&T will select BES 10.1 for their MDM choice to customers.

“We think the availability of the streamlined BES10.1 will catalyze enterprises to shift from trials of BES10 to broader roll-outs beyond the already installed 12K BES10 servers,” Misek said.

The new Regulated-level EMM options in BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 give our government and high-security customers the advanced settings they need to have complete control of the BlackBerry 10 smartphones connected to their networks,” said David J Smith, EVP, Enterprise Mobile Computing. “Extending BlackBerry security, device and application management to iOS and Android frees our customers from the need to invest in multiple device management technologies, giving them an easy and cost-effective upgrade path to a solution that supports their entire mobile environment globally.”

Peter Misek also increased the Buy rating to $22 price target for BlackBerry (NASDAQ: BBRY) today with successful launches and sale for the Q10 in the UK and Canada

Moog, SAP and Songza All Coming to BlackBerry 10 Natively

With the new tools and features available for developers, BlackBerry has added a few more partners and applications to the BlackBerry 10 ecosystem. BlackBerry now currently has well over 120,000 applications. Moog the first professional polyphonic synthesizer designed for use with the new BlackBerry 10 OS, synthesizers also use low-pass filters and high-pass filters to modify sound.

SAP, the enterprise software development company which helps users manage business operations and customer relations, will be creating a native application directed to CFO’s that will allow for their mobile platform to enable third parties to build their own SAP applications

Songza is a music mood applications that offers a series of playlists for activities such as waking up, working out, commuting, concentrating, unwinding, entertaining, and sleeping based on your mood. These playlist can be found and added based on your interest and customizable. Songza is currently working on a native application, that will go a step beyond with sharing and finding new playlist using BBM, making it a BBM connected app.

Today both Verizon and Sprint have put up their pre-registration pages for anyone looking for that physical QWERTY experience. BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 Version 10.1 now available for download

BlackBerry has now made version 10.1 of their BES 10 software available today during BlackBerry Live. This update is targeted at the BYOD market, as there is support for Android and iOS devices within BES 10. You can check out the full press release below.

WATERLOO, ONTARIO–(Marketwired – May 14, 2013) – BlackBerry® (NASDAQ: BBRY)(TSX: BB) today announced BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1, an update to BlackBerry’s multi-platform Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution that provides device and app management for BYOD and corporate-owned BlackBerry®, iOS® and Android™ devices. Today’s update brings new “Regulated-level” IT policy controls and settings for government agencies and customers in regulated industries who require an advanced level of security, control and logging of BlackBerry® 10 smartphones. It also allows customers to support BlackBerry 10 and Bla ckBerry OS smartphones from a single server.

Key features of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1

Simplified deployment for a lower total cost of ownership. Following a simple installation process, customers will be able to use BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 to manage BlackBerry 10 smartphones, BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablets, iOS and Android devices, as well as earlier model BlackBerry smartphones. Upgrading to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 is simple and intuitive, and existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 customers can quickly upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 version 10.1 with no firewall changes.
Dashboard & reporting. New dashboard capabilities provide an “at-a-glance” graphical view of information and statistics associated with the customer’s complete fleet of devices, providing administrators with immediate access to the information they need. The dashboard displays a high level overview of information such as a device deployment summary by platform and carrier, device compliance state, application deployments, and more.
High Availability. All components of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 can now be deployed in a highly available active/passive configuration, similar to the high availability support offered by BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0. BlackBerry Support is now included as standard. On the Road Map for Enterprises

Announced in March 2013 and scheduled to be available at the end June 2013, a further update of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is intended to extend BlackBerry security capabilities for data-at-rest and data-in-transit and provide complete separation between work and personal data and applications for iOS and Android devices. Subject to approval by the Apple App Store and Google Play, as applicable, the new BlackBerry Secure Work Space for iOS and Android solution would include client applications that secure email, calendar, contacts, tasks, memos, browsing and document editing for the device provisioned with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. It would also introduce BlackBerry’s single outbound port solution, aimed at greatly simplifying firewall configuration and giving customers a more secure, simple, cost effective and VPN-less infrastructure to reliably manage all of their mobile devices. Additionally, customers would be ab le to “app wrap” to secure additional applications to run within BlackBerry Secure Work Space through simple interfaces made available with the product. The solution is currently in closed beta with BlackBerry customers and partners worldwide.

For companies that don’t require behind the firewall app and browsing access, application management, or advanced security and controls, BlackBerry 10 smartphones support ActiveSync, providing organizations a fast and easy solution for synchronizing with Microsoft® Exchange®, IBM® Notes® Traveler, Novell® GroupWise®, Hotmail®, Microsoft® Office365™, and Google Apps™. BlackBerry Z10 users have been left out of the loop in terms of BlackBerry 10.1 when the BlackBerry Q10 was released. Many users have loaded beta and leaked OS onto their devices. Well BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins announced and starting today, May 14th, that the BlackBerry Z10 will receive their much anticipated BlackBerry OS 10.1 updates.

Lewis Hamilton to make appearance at BlackBerry Live 2013?

BlackBerry has done an excellent job at making new partnerships for the launch of the BlackBerry 10, and one of these was the partnership with the Mercedes PETRONAS AMG Formula 1 race team. As a result it looks like Lewis Hamilton will be making an appearance at BlackBerry Live tomorrow. As you can see from his Twitter update, Hamilton has landed in Orlando and is getting ready for his appearance.

At this point we aren’t exactly sure what Hamilton will be doing tomorrow during BlackBerry Live, but the NerdBerry team is in Orlando and we will of course bring you any breaking news and whatever else comes out of the conference.

BlackBerry Q10 goes up for pre-order in India

The BlackBerry Z10 did very well when it went up for sale in India, and now it is time for the Q10 to shine. Today pre-orders for the Q10 has started from online retailer Snapdeal. At this time there still has not been any mention of the what the final price for the Q10 will be, but rumors are that it will be somewhere around Rs 30,000, or about $550 USD.

If you do decide to pre-order a Q10 through Snapdeal it is going to cost you Rs 1000, and we should see the device get launched around the end of May. I have been using a Q10 for about a week now, and I highly recommend it for anyone that feels they need a physical keyboard – not to mention the awesome battery life the Q10 gets.
