Video: God’s Will Mixing It Up on the Pacemaker DJ App at BlackBerry World 2012

Just the other day at BlackBerry World 2012, Jonas Norberg gave a sneak peak of what’s to be expected of Pacemaker DJ application for PlayBook. The video in this article shows off the Pacemaker application being used in real time on the BlackBerry PlayBook by God’s Will at the BlackBerry World Party. To give you a bit of background on Pacemaker think back to the original Tonium Pacemaker, all the necessary hardware included. Now imagine this: A sleek, virtual version of that Pacemaker, nearly identical in design layout to its predecessor, only this time making sure all aspects were easily accessible. Shown at Blackberry World, you get to see the upcoming Blackberry 10 keyboard in action.It is for the all touch device, and RIM is planning for a device with a keyboard in the new year. In the meantime, this touch keyboard looks promising and easy to use with gestures, but isn’t the official one they will be launching. I am sure they still have some tweaks to work out.

Cascades: Out Of Box Experience, RIM Showcases Cascade UI Elements

Developers are able to get the toolkit for native and HTML5 software development as a beta download. VP of Developer Relations and Ecosystems Development Alec Saunders discussed the OS and explained some new features.

RIM Launches BlackBerry 10 Platform

Developers get powerful tools in advance to build apps that deliver highly engaging mobile experiences for users

BlackBerry World 2012 / BlackBerry 10 Jam – Orlando, FL – Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today unveiled its vision for the BlackBerry 10 platform at the BlackBerry World conference in Orlando, Florida released and the initial developer toolkit for native and HTML5 software development. The toolkit is available in beta as a free download from http://developer.blackberry.com.

The toolkit includes the BlackBerry® 10 Native SDK with Cascades, which allows developers to create graphically rich, high performance native applications in C/C++ or Qt. The Native SDK for BlackBerry 10 has a rich set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that give developers access to core device features and a range of BlackBerry application services, such as Push and Payment services. Cascades is a powerful native application development toolset that allows developers to easily build visually stunning applications without having to write graphics code.

The toolkit also includes support for HTML5 application developers with the BlackBerry 10 WebWorksTM SDK, allowing them to create native-like applications using common web programming technologies. The BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK allows developers to use HTML5 and CSS for building apps and provides JavaScript bindings to native device APIs along with RIM’s open source UI toolkit, bbUI.js, to create applications with native-like capabilities. In this initial release of the BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK, developers have access to a core subset of the full WebWorks APIs, including Identity, Application and App events, System and system events. Applications created with any of the BlackBerry 10 tools will run on BlackBerry 10 smartphones as well as BlackBerry® PlayBook tablets when the new platform becomes available for the PlayBook. To further help developers get started on the BlackBerry 10 platform, BlackBerry 10 Jam attendees are being provided a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha device. This testing unit is a further commitment from RIM to provide the developer community with the tools they need to build successful applications for BlackBerry 10 devices, so that they are ready when the first BlackBerry 10 devices are expected to launch in the latter part of 2012.

CIO Magazine’s Al Sacco To Ask RIM Questions At Blackberry World 2012

Every 100′th App Submitted to App World Will be Eligible to attend BlackBerry 10 Jam for FREE

Developers may want to listen up if you are not already attending BlackBerry Jam 10 in Orlando RIM is offering up a FREE prize package to attend BlackBerry Jam 10! Starting April 10, at 12:01 am, every 100′th app submitted to BlackBerry® App World™ will be eligible for a free prize package to attend BlackBerry 10 Jam. To win the prize package, the app must be approved according to BlackBerry App World Vendor Guidelines. Contest closes on April 26 at midnight EST.

The prize package includes a free pass to BlackBerry 10 Jam on May 1′st to 3′rd, 2012, a travel voucher to purchase a coach airline ticket to Orlando Florida, hotel accommodations while at the conference and $500 USD spending money.

The apps can target either a BlackBerry smartphone or tablet.
