Device Switch transfers the following information:

* Contacts (including contact photos, birthdays, etc.)
* Calendar (including recurring entries)

Download Device Switch for BlackBerry 10 from BlackBerry World. Then head to either Google Play or App Store for iOS to get the download for the device switch app for the other phone. You have to have the BlackBerry app and your other phone app in order to transfer the info from one device to the other.

If you are a Gmail user then you have most likely synced your contacts on the BlackBerry Z10.  You will have also noticed that you probably have duplicates of all your contacts.  Well the good news is that BlackBerry is aware of the issue and they are currently working on a fix for the issues.

In the knowledge based article KB34047 BlackBerry has outlined the temporary fix for the problem while they work on a permanent solution. Here is what BlackBerry recommends users do in the meantime.

Remove and re-add the Gmail Contacts on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

Remove Gmail Contacts

1. Swipe down from the top bezel
2. Select Settings
3. Select Accounts
4. Select Gmail Contacts
5. Select Delete

Re-add Gmail Contacts

1. Select Add Account at bottom of Accounts screen
2. Select Email, Calendar and Contacts
3. Enter Gmail email address
4. Enter password
5. Set Sync Email to Off
6. Set sync Calendar to off
7. Ensure Sync Contacts is On
8. Select Done

Hopefully BlackBerry will get it fixed sometime soon, but at least we have some kind of fix to temporarily solve the issue.

How to update your software on BlackBerry 10

Software is available over the air (OTA). Typically, you’ll get a notification about new updates, but you can manually check to see if it has been made available by your service provider and install it in a few simple steps.
Settings> Software Updates> Check for Updates> — then follow the on screen steps to install.

The download is approximately 150MB in size, so I recommend updating when connected to Wi-Fi.

Gist reviews the volume of communication that you have with each and every person in your network, the frequency of communication and the number of account connections for each contact to establish an ‘importance’ ranking.
