For the time being, Speedreader reads the popular EPUB* format. EPUB*, is the standard open e-book format recommended by the International digital publishing forum. You can find millions of e-books using this format. You should never run out of reading material.
In the upcoming months, if the community likes the app, and we receive positive feedback, we’re planning to add PDF and TXT support.

EPUB*: Our reader recognizes the EPUB standard format. Since there are lots of piracy e-books over the net, some of them don’t have the standard EPUB structure, and for that reason, they won’t work. We’re currently working on finding a workaround for this issue. However, the vast majority of the EPUB files will work perfectly.

When I fired up the Kobo app and go to my library it just hangs there, as if it’s trying to do something and still nothing. I even left my PlayBook on all night and to allow the app to communicate with the servers and download my books into my library, and that was a NO GO!!!

I even considered completely wiping my PlayBook which you can learn how if you ever need it. But then again maybe the issue has to do with them recently getting bought out by Rakuten? In any event its my eBooks and I need them Now!!! But then I withdrew the amnesia claim, for my PlayBook and thought I would ask my fellow Nerds is Kobo not working for you and if so Kobo can we get a fix? Soon?

Those of us that use our BlackBerries for everything possible; go ahead and put your e reader on the shelf. Overdrive released their Media Console for Blackberry. This allows you to read e books on the go with your BlackBerry. Here is the press release:

Free app allows users to borrow and enjoy best-selling digital books from libraries worldwide

Cleveland, April 6, 2011 – Public, school, and college libraries now provide direct EPUB eBook downloads on BlackBerry® mobile devices with the free OverDrive® Media Console^TM app for BlackBerry. Users at more than 13,000 libraries worldwide can wirelessly download and enjoy EPUB eBooks, as well as MP3 audiobooks, on their BlackBerry devices. Libraries offer best-selling titles, such as “The Social Animal” by David Brooks and “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett, which can be borrowed and enjoyed using OverDrive’s app for BlackBerry. Popular business eBooks and audiobooks, as well as titles in virtually any subject, are also available from the library using the BlackBerry app.
