A lawsuit filed against BlackBerry by some American shareholders has been dismissed from court by U.S. District Judge Richard Sullivan in Manhattan last Friday. Well here we are the second week into the month of May and RIM has been hit with yet another patent lawsuit over music playlists. GigaOm was informed that a shell company, Point Ventures of Seattle has sued RIM for infringing on US Patent 7667123.
It looks like the patent trolls are hard at work again to day… The lawsuit that was filled this week by a shell company located in Texas, Touchscreen Gestures alleges that Apple and RIM are infringing on a total of four patents.
Here we go again. Another day, another sue? RIM is being sued by “patent troll” Graphic Properties. Joining them is Apple, Samsung, LG and HTC. So what are they suing for?: A single patent which “a computer graphics process that turns text and images into pixels to be displayed on screens.”
Ottawa-based patent firm Wi-LAN is now suing RIM for infringing on two patents that Wi-LAN holds. Those patents are U.S. PatentNo. 5,515,369 and U.S. Patent No. 6,232,969.
