BlackBerry OS 10.1 Starts Rolling Out Officially on Singtel in Singapore

Last week at BlackBerry Live in Orlando, Florida it was made know that BlackBerry OS 10.1 would start rolling out around the world with it hitting the US by the end of the month. Well OS 10.1 has landed on Singtel in Singapore! Singtel is the largest wireless carrier in Singapore as of right now it is being said the Starhub and M1 as well as other wireless carries in the region will be getting the update soon.

Now let it be know that this official OS is not as updated as one would think as the latest leaked OS offers a higher version number.

6,000 people participate in BlackBerry’s first “Green Corridor Run” in Singapore

In Singapore over the weekend close to about 6,000 people from across the globe, 71 different nationalities met at Tanjong Pagar Rail Station to participate in the inaugural ‘Green Corridor Run’ presented by BlackBerry! In attendance to the run, guest of honor, Acting Minister for Manpower and Senior Minister of State for National Development, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, joined in to start the 10.5km run.

Samson Tenai, 32, from Kenya and Rosie Clarke, 26, from the UK, won the man and female competition in 34 minutes 11 seconds and 41 minutes 42 seconds, respectively. As a prize for competing in the race both of them walked away with a cash prize of $1,500, and a BlackBerry Bold 9900.

“2013 marks BlackBerry’s ten year anniversary in Singapore so we’re delighted to be the lead supporter for an event that celebrates a unique part of the island’s history. The number of participants that ran the route and showed their support for the cause was overwhelming and fantastic to see,” said Charles Dufourq, Country Director, Research In Motion (RIM) Singapore.

In a statement, RIM says the route “allowed runners to experience one of Singapore’s least known natural wonders and show their support for keeping the area as natural as possible, benefiting generations to come”.

The industry today:

The BYOD trend is building up in Asia Pacific after gaining traction in the US and European markets.

“The consumerisation of IT is significantly changing how organisations approach their mobility and devicestrategies,” said Tim Dillon, Associate Vice President of Asia Pacific End User & Mobility Research at IDC. “One consequence of this – companies are increasingly faced with a multi-OS, multi-device environments. White BlackBerry Dev Alpha Makes an Appearance at BlackBerry 10 Jam

A few hours ago RIM finished up the BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour for Singapore. While there were a few people there from the media Terrence T over at BerryReview was able to snap a couple photos of a white BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha!

Now we know that the BlackBerry 10 L, M, and N-Series will come in multiple colors but this is the first image of the Dev Alpha in white! Let us know what you think of the white Dev Alpha in the comments!

The advert features the caption “National Service doesn’t mean no social life”. This campaign show that even the military can have a social life on the go.

BlackBerry OS 7.1 Now Available for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in Singapore

Singapore – The latest version of BlackBerry smartphone’s OS, BlackBerry 7.1, is now available for BlackBerry Bold 9900 customers in Singapore. Starting today, current BlackBerry Bold 9900 customers can upgrade the OS of their smartphones to BlackBerry 7.1 for free via sg.blackberry.com/update, or the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.

The BlackBerry 7.1 OS incorporates a new feature called BlackBerry Tag that can change the way BlackBerry users share information and content. By simply tapping their NFC enabled BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone against another NFC enabled BlackBerry smartphone, users can make sharing easier than ever. They can instantly invite a friend to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), exchange contact information, documents, URLs, photos and other multimedia content, and they can also pair their BlackBerry smartphone with an NFC enabled Bluetooth device.
