BlackBerry Ranks Second In Social Media Buzz Leading Up To SuberBowl

The interwebs have been going crazy since RIM officially announced that they would be doing a SuperBowl commercial for the first time ever. Now it seems that the buzz is not only amongst BlackBerry users, but it seems that BlackBerry is ranked second, only behind Mercedes, in social media surveys.

As you can see from the above graph, BlackBerry is definitely getting its fair share of attention for their SuperBowl ad. The ranking was done by Sales Force Marketing Cloud, and it is based on mentions on various social networks. The best part is that the chatter regarding the ad is predominately positive, as can be seen in the pie chart below.

It is great to see that BlackBerry is not only getting a lot of attention, but that said attention is of the positive nature. We are only one day away from finally seeing BlackBerry 10 get unveiled, and I am sure that there will be even more buzz tomorrow afternoon.

Buffer Now Available For BlackBerry 10

There have been a ton of apps ported over to BlackBerry 10 from both Android and iOS in the last few weeks. Now some of these apps will be good, but there will be some that probably won’t make it onto your device. Well Buffer is one of the apps that I am guessing a lot of people will be using on their BlackBerry 10 devices. The app lets you stage updates for all your social networks, this means that you will not flood timelines all at once when you have something to share.

The Inside BlackBerry DevBlog has a nice post up about the benefits of Buffer and how it was brought to the BlackBerry 10 platform. Even without BlackBerry 10 being commercially available they have seen a great response to their app, check out what they had to say.

Social Media Study On S&P/TSX 60 Index Firms Finds RIM In First Place

The study was done for October for Canadian businesses and RIM was numero uno for the most active company in social media. The index ranks the top companies in Canada on their use of Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The score was out of 100 and RIM got 98.7, so an A!

There are also individual ratings for each of the social medias. For Twitter they came in 4th because their number of tweets was lower, but they do retain the highest Twitter followers. Youtube they are 2nd place for number of views. For Facebook they are number one.

If you consider the past few days alone, RIM has been pumping out the tweets, interview videos and facebook posts.

VivaCell-MTS Launches new BlackBerry Social Package

VivaCell-MTS has launched their new pre-paid BlackBerry package that is perfect for those that are heavy social network users. The package is aimed at the younger demographic and lets you either subscribe for a day, week or month.

The BlackBerry Social Package will get you a @vivacell.blackberry.com email address as well as allow you to keep in touch with your friends through BBM, GTalk, etc. You can of course also use Facebook, Twitter and even MySpace if that is your style.

Black Sheep over iSheep! #TeamBlackBerry

Earlier this week the New York Times wrote an article that takes a few hits at BlackBerry and its image in the mobile market by BOLDly calling it the “The BlackBerry as Black Sheep!” Many of the individuals in the article that have or used to have BlackBerry devices stated that they felt ashamed to have such devices in their hands. Many felt embarrassed or felt as if the infamous BlackBerry device wasn’t worth carrying or up to par with that of the other fruit and or the robotic counterparts. Personally I love my BlackBerry, and RIM and the entire #TeamBlackBerry family is standing behind RIM as we press forward to BlackBerry 10. RIM started off, something they normally don’t do, by sending a tweet to the folks over @nytimes:

With this article has push a movement for BlackBerry users to show their loyalty to the device that they love and will continue to use. Many users have shown their support on twitter to show the New York Times that they are not ashamed of BlackBerry.

So, BlackBerry users show just how #ProudToBeTeamBlackBerry that your are, and show your support on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube just show those iSheeps and Fandroids who we are!!

#TeamBlackBerryPH gives back by volunteering for monsoon flooding clean-up

If there is one thing that I have noticed over the years about #TeamBlackBerry, it’s that we are a giving community that likes to help wherever we can. Recently #TeamBlackBerryPH gathered the troops and helped with the clean-up from the recent monsoon flooding in the Philippines. The 112 volunteers were rounded up by using social media, such as Twitter and Facebook and BBM registration.

It is heart warming to see a community of smartphone users come together to help clean-up their community after such a horrific disaster. check out the video to see how the clean-up went, and don’t forget to share any similar stories that may have affected you personally.

LAGbook Signs Sponsorship Deal With RIM

Prominent Nigerian social networking website, Ladies And Gentlemen book, popularly known as LAGbook, on 18th June, 2012, signed an 8 weeks sponsorship deal with Research in Motion (Blackberry) Nigeria, valued at N1.2million.

Before the deal, LAGbook had over 75,000 registered members with international media attention from Webrazzi and TechCrunch, the world’s foremost technology news portal on the Internet.

LAGbook was created initially as an exclusive social network for students of University of Lagos on 17th April, 2010 by Chidi and Chika Nwaogu, Nigerian computer programmers, internet entrepreneurs and twin brothers. Less than 2 months after inception, the social network with 3,000 registered students expanded to the Nigerian population at large.

After recording over 20,000 members, the social network expanded its reach to the 21 African English-speaking countries (including Nigeria). With over 60,000 members on Jan 2012, LAGbook expanded, targeting the youth demographic (18-30) around the world.

In the past, LAGbook has partnered with Etisalat Nigeria as a social earning network where Etisalat subscribers around the world unwind, mix-up, connect with one another and share their daily Etisalat experience.

Recently, LAGbook started massive promotional campaigns for Blackberry as official Blackberry artworks “Don’t Wait, Activate!” replaces the backdrop of the Login/Sign-up page of LAGbook.com, the cover photo of 5 LAGbook fan-pages on Facebook with over 20,000 fans and the backdrop of LAGbook’s twitter handle with over 1,200 followers.

The young Nigerian social network also sends periodic messages to its over 130,000 members about Blackberry. The sponsorship deal is expected to end on 11th August, 2012, if there is no roll on.

Since 13th June, 2012, LAGbook’s growth curve peaked, attracting over 3,000 new members daily with popularity in India, Turkey, Canada, United States, Malaysia, Philippines and most especially Nigeria in the city of Yaba, Lagos, where the social network was incepted and currently ranks #3 in traffic, right after Facebook (#1) and Google (#2). With LAGbook’s recent growth curve, the social network is expected to become Africa’s #1 largest social networking website with about 500,000 members by year end.
