A lot of speculation now surrounds the topic of which OS will be officially released by Big Red (aka Verizon Wireless). The 19th is supposed to be the date that they are going to be releasing this MR3 update for the BlackBerry Bold 9650. We know there will be an update for sure. The speculation comes from a couple of 9650’s that have been purchased lately with the OS v5.0.0.1006. This is news to me since the latest official from Big Red was the 5.0.0.975 which is MR2 and was released October 15, 2010: BlackBerry OS Download Site
The latest Bold’s that we have seen with that OS version does not guarantee that OS to be the MR3 update. It only fuels as to which OS VZW will officially release January 19! VZW is notorious for either releasing SURPRISE or LATE OS’s for the BlackBerry devices. Before making the switch to the Bold I was on the Storm 2 and the OS releases were either surprising as to the one they went with or late because they seem to take so long to test the OS before releasing to the public!
Since hearing of the official MR3 update for both the Curve 9330 and the Bold 9650. People with those devices have been asking for a leak that will further keep us in the loop and maybe confirm as to exactly which OS they will release. As of today there have been no leaks or info detailing further on the MR3 update. As a Bold user and long time VZW customer I sure hope that it is BB6 that they release and not the v5.1006 that has been showing up on the latest Bolds. There is some hope to them releasing OS6 with these fliers that say so:
I have not been able to confirm on whether the Curve 3G 9330 is being sold with v5.1006 since Sprint had officially released the v6.415 to both of them I assume VZW will be doing the same. If you have recently bought a 9330 and came with v5.1006 please drop us a line or start a thread in the NerdBerry Forums today!
