RIM’s New VP of Developer Relations wants to win hearts and minds of developers

I am sure by now you all know that Alec Saunders has been named the new Vice President of RIM’s Developer Relations, and we are happy to see someone so passionate about expanding the BlackBerry Platform fill the empty shoes that Mike Kirkup left.  Alec did several interviews today, and he even went on further to share his views on what RIM needs on his blog.  Alec recognizes the need for RIM to make sure that developers are attracted to the BlackBerry platform.

His main point can be summed up within this one paragraph,

Over the last few days I’ve been in San Francisco at the Mobilize conference, and speaking with developers.   It’s clear from those conversations that the primary problem we face is lack of support from application developers.  My team’s job is to correct that – to win the hearts and minds of mobile developers again.

We would like to welcome Alec Saunders to his new position and we are very happy to see someone continue to have passion about expanding the BlackBerry platform.  Especially since Alec seems to know that attracted new developers is key to RIM’s success in the mobile marketplace.
