One of the biggest problem that devs have been running into on the PlayBook is proper swipe down for the menu. RIM has offered support in regards to this in the past but has released a new javascript Micro-Framework library called Swipemenu.js. This allows Developers to easily integrate a swipedown menu as well as customize them in PlayBook applications.
