York University Says No To Jim Basillie’s Investment, Not The First Time

Poor Jim. Rejected again. Jim Basillie had projected a $30 Million investment partnership, “think-tank Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) who would have funded 10 research chairs along with 20 graduate scholarships over the next 10 years.”

And he lost by a big margin too, 34 to 7. But professors of the university are glad it didn’t pass. One spoke to the Globe and Mail “I’m glad that it didn’t go forward,” Prof. Heron said. “This was not just a CIGI issue, it was a much larger issue of principle of how we’re going to deal with external private sponsors.”
