DingleBerry Update to v4.0 Cancelled – Source Code Released

It is funny how things pan out just last night NerdBerry_Kendrick and I were talking about DingleBerry v4.0 and today we have more information about it. The DingleBerry team has official cancelled version 4.0 updateand has released the source code for the project.

Version 4.0 was said to bring the following:

  • Improved USB Host script to cater for when USB folder is already created.
  • Improved unified login to cope with when BDM has spammed.
  • Allows root on any future firmware including 2.0.0.7111 and 2.0.0.7971.
  • Allows loading of custom firmware and true permanent modification of /base.

It looks like RIM may have one this round and RIM’s BBSIRT is now able to take a break. Is anyone out there still rooted? Let us know in the comments!

You can download the source code here

I guess if you use the dingleberry 3.3.3 version you can downgrade and re-root the PlayBook, but there is no point doing this…
