BlackBerry Patent Application Shows Rotating Hinge Flip Phone

I thought the flip phone had died. Apparently I was wrong. Although this isn’t your standard dumb phone flip phone. BlackBerry has applied for a patent on a 180 degree rotating hinge for a flip phone. This is only a patent, and the phone itself may never go into production but still. Definitely not like any kind of phone I have ever seen. Like the Torch and a laptop had a baby.

I could see something like this potentially working if it was made really well. The beauty of bar phones is that you have no extra parts on the outside, less parts to break or come off. Can you imagine dropping that? A rotating hinge flip phone could be neat for typing, or watching videos on.

    Really hope this isn’t the direction they’re going in. This looks like it would be even more bulkier than the Torch. And if thats a tablet, think about the weight then. No thanks
