BlackBerry Traffic comes to end of the road – BlackBerry will EOL Traffic on March 27th

I cannot say that I am surprised with this one… BlackBerry has decided to end of life (EOL) their at one time popular BlackBerry OS 7 application, BlackBerry Traffic. BlackBerry Traffic BlackBerry Traffic 3.0, you can know your estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on current traffic conditions, and find out about alternate routes to avoid hold ups and toll booths. Plus, new voice guidance provides stress-free navigation and allows you to travel completely hands free; with the option to have clear voice instructions come through a Bluetooth headset or your vehicle’s sound system, and deliver turn-by-turn directions if you want them. In fact, you can make them as detailed as you like! Finally, when you know your ETA, you can keep your contacts updated via SMS, email, or PIN so they know when to expect you. Making – and keeping – plans just got a whole lot easier.

Here is what BlackBerry had to say:

Please be advised that the BlackBerry Traffic application will be end of life as of March 27, 2015. This will cause the BlackBerry Traffic application to no longer function.

As this is a BlackBerry OS application (Pre – BlackBerryR 10), there are no BlackBerry developed alternatives for this application within that framework. We encourage our subscribers to migrate to one of the BlackBerry 10 devices, where they can make use of our robust BlackBerry Maps application as an alternative.
